Plan Membership

The Plan became effective on July 1, 1946 when all companies licensed to write automobile liability and/or physical damage insurance in the state became Plan subscribers.

All insurers authorized to write automobile insurance in the state are required to subscribe to and participate in the Plan according to the rules and rates set forth in the Plan Manual.

The Plan is administered by a Governing Committee.

Subscribers to the Plan meet annually. A Notice of the Annual Meeting is sent to all subscribers at least 45 days prior to the date of the meeting. The Annual Meeting is scheduled for October 6, 2004.

Assignments

The Plan makes random assignments of private passenger applications to subscriber companies based upon each company’s individual quota. Commercial applications are assigned to servicing carriers who then process and service the business on behalf of the Plan.

Problem with a Producer

If there is a problem with a Producer, the assigned company should attempt to resolve the problem by contacting the producer directly. If, after following normal business procedures, the problem is not resolved, the assigned company can submit a Producer Performance Complaint Form to the producer. Send a copy of your complaint to the Plan office. Include a copy of your file. The Plan office can then get actively involved in resolving the problem.

The insured may also contact the Plan office and/or the assigned company for assistance with any problem related to a producer.
