Plan Membership
The Plan became effective on July 1, 1949 when all companies licensed to write automobile liability and/or physical damage insurance in the state became Plan subscribers.
All insurers authorized to write automobile insurance in the state are required to subscribe to and participate in the Plan according to the rules, regulations and rates set forth in the Plan Manual.
The Plan is administered by a Governing Committee (I would like the individual to be able to click on the words governing committee and have it link directly to the Governing Committee page.)
Subscribers to the Plan meet Biennial. A Notice of the Biennial Meeting is sent to all subscribers as least 45 days prior to the date of the meeting. The Biennial Meeting is scheduled for May 21, 2004.
Assignments
The Plan makes random assignments of private passenger applications to subscriber companies based upon each company's individual quota. Commercial applications are assigned to servicing carriers who then process and service the business on behalf of the Plan.
Problems with a Producer
If there is a problem with a Producer, the assigned company should attempt to resolve the problem by contacting the producer directly. If, after following normal business procedures, the problem is not resolved, the assigned company can submit a complaint against the producer. A copy of the complaint should be sent to the Plan office. The Plan office can then get actively involved in resolving the problem.
The insured may also contact the Plan office and/or the assigned company for assistance with any problem related to a producer.
