Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does the name "AIPSO" stand for anything?
A: When our organization was founded in 1973, its official name was the
Automobile Insurance Plans Service Office. The acronym AIPSO grew so popular in
the insurance industry that in the 1980s we adopted AIPSO as our organization’s
official name.
Q: Is AIPSO an insurance company? Does AIPSO sell automobile insurance?
A: AIPSO is not an insurance company, and sells no insurance of any kind. We are
a management organization and service provider for various insurance industry
groups responsible for administering the residual market.
Q: Can AIPSO refer me to an insurance agent or insurance broker?
A: AIPSO personnel are prohibited from referring specific agents or brokers to
prospective auto insurance applicants. We suggest that you consult with members
of your family, friends, or work associates to learn of reputable insurance
agents and brokers doing business in your vicinity.
