to use than ever before with new and improved interactive web pages in a
user-friendly format!
EASi 2.0 is an interactive
web-based data entry system that is:
Smarter - because it
includes input fields that check for common errors as you type and does not
use a PDF application format for input,
Faster - because it’s
interactive web pages load and respond faster, and
Easier - because its
navigation is improved by the use of tabs, drop-down boxes and runs faster with
real time quotes and auto-fill forms in a user friendly format.
Important: Applications
that have been saved but not submitted in the original EASi system will become
unavailable as of June 9, 2009. Such applications will have to be
re-entered in EASi 2.0 or submitted via paper application.
Applications submitted through the original EASi system
prior to June 9th will continue to be available for viewing and
reprinting.

REVISIONS TO THE PRIVATE PASSENGER/MOTORCYCLE APPLICATION,
COMMERCIAL APPLICATION AND AUTO SALES AND TRAILER DEALERS SUPPLEMENT:
Effective May 1, 2009, the Maine Plan will introduce revised Private
Passenger/Motorcycle Application ME 5580 5/09, Commercial Application
AIP 5581 5/09, and Auto Sales and Trailer Dealers Supplement AIP 5582
5/09.
As of May 1, 2009, only the 5/09 edition of the Private
Passenger/Motorcycle Application, Commercial Application and Auto Sales
and Trailer Dealers Supplement will be accepted by the Plan. An
application and/or supplement that is submitted to the Plan with an
expired edition date (1/09 or 11/87) will be returned to the producer
and a deficiency will be assigned.
Please refer to Circular GCB (ME) 09-03, PCP (ME) 09-02 dated March 2,
2009 for more detailed information.
The Maine Automobile Insurance Plan was established pursuant to Title
24A, M.R.S.A., Section 2325 dated January 1, 1970 for granting automobile
bodily injury and property damage liability, medical payments and physical
damage insurance to applicants who are unable to obtain such
coverage through the voluntary market.
Information pertaining to such things as eligibility criteria, extent
of coverage provided, establishing an effective date of coverage and rate
classifications can be found in the Maine Plan Manual.
Producers licensed by the Maine Bureau of Insurance to transact
automobile insurance business in the state of Maine and who are certified
by the Plan are eligible to submit applications to the Maine Plan. For
more details regarding the Plan's certification program, please refer to
the Plan Section entitled PRODUCER CERTIFICATION PROGRAM.
To be eligible for coverage, the applicant must certify that he/she has
attempted, but has been unable to obtain automobile insurance in the state
of Maine within the preceding 60 days. For a complete list of the
eligibility criteria, please refer to the Plan section entitled
ELIGIBILITY.
