The District of Columbia Automobile Insurance Plan (DCAIP) was created by statute in order to provide insurance coverage for those people who can not obtain insurance through the voluntary market. In this capacity, the DCAIP ensures that these applicants are shared equitably among all insurers licensed to write auto insurance in the District of Columbia.
Any insurance agent holding a valid Property & Casualty license for the District of Columbia is eligible to write business through the DCAIP.
Consumers possessing a valid District of Columbia driver's license and a vehicle registered in the District of Columbia are eligible to be assigned through the DCAIP. For further information consumers should consult their agent or broker.
On our site we will publish documents related to the Plan as they become available. We hope you find this site to be a valuable source of the insurance information you need and welcome your comments and suggestions.
