The Vermont Automobile
Insurance Plan was established pursuant to the laws of the state of Vermont as
amended by the 1969 General Assembly for granting automobile bodily injury and
property damage liability, medical payments and physical damage coverages to
applicants who are unable to obtain such coverage through the voluntary market.
Information pertaining to
such things as eligibility criteria, extent of coverage provided, establishing
an effective date of coverage and rate classifications can be found in the
Vermont Plan Manual.
Producers licensed by the
Vermont Department of Banking, Insurance, Securities and Health Care
Administration to transact automobile insurance business in the state of Vermont
are eligible to submit applications to the Vermont Plan provided the producer is
certified by the Plan.
To be certified by the Plan,
producers must fully complete and submit an Application for Certification (refer
to Plan Section 18. Producer Certification Program) must hold a valid Vermont
property and casualty license, abide by the performance standards for producers,
the rules and provisions of the Plan and purchase and maintain access to a Plan
Manual.
To be eligible for coverage,
the applicant must certify that he/she has attempted, but has been unable to
obtain automobile insurance in the state of Vermont within the preceding 60
days. For a complete list of

ELIGIBILITY.
