Vermont Automobile Insurance Plan

Vermont Automobile Insurance Plan

The Vermont Automobile Insurance Plan was established pursuant to the laws of the state of Vermont as amended by the 1969 General Assembly for granting automobile bodily injury and property damage liability, medical payments and physical damage coverages to applicants who are unable to obtain such coverage through the voluntary market.

Information pertaining to such things as eligibility criteria, extent of coverage provided, establishing an effective date of coverage and rate classifications can be found in the Vermont Plan Manual.

Producers licensed by the Vermont Department of Financial Regulation to transact automobile insurance business in the state of Vermont are eligible to submit applications to the Vermont Plan provided the producer is certified by the Plan. For more details regarding the Plan's certification program, please refer to the Plan Section entitled PRODUCER CERTIFICATION PROGRAM.

To be eligible for coverage, the applicant must certify that he/she has attempted, but has been unable to obtain automobile insurance in the state of Vermont within the preceding 60 days. For a complete list of eligibility requirements, please refer to the Section of the Plan entitled ELIGIBILITY.
